~Fears~
This is one of Elizabeth Friedrich’s favorite paintings and the most interesting one. It expresses how the artist explored human fears and how those can be described on canvas. The artwork refers to fears relating to experiences of the past, other people’s opinions and the familiar voices inside us imposing limitations. The artist speaks through paint about how the soul feels trapped in a cage, while living in a system that blindly follows rules and orders. The colour of love and of the soul then become both grey.
